Things that May or mayNot matter: Food for thought → ajkamera.tumblr.com

ajkamera:

If a man goes to college, gets a good job. and makes millions, he is viewed as successful. It does not matter if he hates his job, or his home, or his life. If a man has no job, or works a dead end job, and is constantly broke, but he has a good family, or close friends, or he is ‘doing what he loves’, he is also told that he is a successful man because he has happiness. Even though he may be willing to give it all up just for that job that the rich man has. So, if this is the case, who is really successful?

————————————————————————————————-

My response: Neither is successful. That is the problem with us people, we always think that we CANT have it all, that we have to give up one thing for the other. You become successful when you have all four factors: health, family, meaningful work and money.

You are not successful if you only enjoy any one of these aspects. Bottom line is, YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL! and by the way, you don’t have to graduate from college to be a millionaire. We have to stop linking college degree to being successful. Very interesting post though!

Do you need a college degree to be successful?

NO! But a college degree does help in some way, but you don’t need it at all to be successful. I am not trying to denigrate the importance of college education here. Education is still important of course but we all know that in this day in age, a college degree is now just a “good” thing to have and not anymore a requirement for success in life, and don’t get me wrong, I am only talking as an entrepreneur here, obviously you still need a degree to be a lawyer, doctor or an engineer, but having a degree to start a business? I don’t think it is required at all.

If my daughter comes up to me after graduating high school and tells me daddy, I want to skip college and start a business, I will tell her “Let’s do it, I will be your seed investor” as long as I see passion and willingness to work hard in her, I will support her. Now, a lot of people disagree with me when I say that, first of all, I don’t really give a SHIT about what other people say or what their opinion is. Second, I will not force her to go to college if she really doesn’t want to. If she is passionate about something and want to build a business around it, I will not stop her. I will help her pursue it and see her succeed doing it. She’ll have a higher chance of succeeding that way. The worst thing I could do is to stop her from doing what she really wants and force her to do something that she doesn’t like doing.

A guy I know only did one semester in college but became a mentor to somebody who graduated from Harvard and also advised one of the top stock brokers in America. The point I’m trying to drive home is that, just because you have a degree, it doesn’t mean you will be successful or be better than the one who don’t have a degree. College grad or not, The internet made the playing field level, I know 20 year old kids who never stepped foot at a college university but still manage to make 6 figure income a year on the internet.

Let me wrap this up and leave everybody a quote by Jim Rohn. I think everybody will agree on this one. “Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.” I don’t want to make a living; I want to make a fortune!!

Let me know what you guys think by leaving a comment below.

Are you surrounded by stupid people?

If so, here’s what I think you should do:

Introduce them to each other and run!
